| Missouri Botanical Garden. There are about 1,200 species of the total estimated 160,000 species of tropical plants in the Climatron. Many of these plants are endangered species. The Climatron was built in 1960 and renovated in 1990. Climatron was designed by St. Louis architects Murphy and Mackey. In 1976 it was named one of the 100 most significant architectural achievements in United States history. |
