The Japanese ligustrum is a large shrub or tree that is usually seen at 6-12 ft in height. The flowers are white, with a four-lobed corolla; they are borne in clusters 4-6 inch-long in early summer. The Japanese privet is a native of Japan and eastern Asia as the species name indicates. This shrub is now widely naturalized in mild winter areas.
