Freesia laxa has been known by many different names (Anomatheca laxa, Anomatheca cruenta, Lapeirousia laxa). It is native to several countries in Africa and is a smaller version of Freesia grandiflora. The most common forms are red with darker blotches flowering late spring and summer. They bloom quickly from their bright red seeds and can be a bit invasive in situations where they are happy as they self sow.
