The genus Mammillaria is one of the largest in the cactus family (Cactaceae). Most of the mammillarias are native to Mexico, but some come from the southwest USA, the Caribbean, Colombia, Venezuela, Guatemala and Honduras. All of the Mammillaria cactus have small to medium sized flowers which are vibrantly colored and produced profusely and readily in a ring around the top of the plant, they also readily produce seed bearing berries. This cactus is a tropical plant, it needs 53F-64F (12C - 18C) during the winter day and not less then 41F (5C) during the winter night.
