Daylilies are perennial plants producing
many large blooms on stalks usually 3 to 4 feet tall (90 to 120 cm).
Flowers are trumpet- or cup-shaped, reflexed or double. Flowers last
about a day, but there are many flowers on each stalk that the short
flower life is not a problem. The daylily blooming period lasts many
weeks, from early to late summer.
Normally, daylily is diploid plant, but breeders developed
tetraploids that have twice as many chromosomes as diploids. Tetraploids
have richer, more intense colors, heavier petal texture, exceptional and
unusual forms. If you want to know more about daylilies, please visit
the American
Hemerocallis Society.
