Thiên Mụ pagoda sits on the northern bank of the Perfume River, around 3 km of the Citadel of Hue. The temple was built in 1601 at the direction of Nguyen Hoang, the head of the Nguyen Lords. Its stupa, Phuoc Duyen tower, has seven storeys and is the tallest in Vietnam.
