The Far North of Vietnam (Viet Bac) consists of six provinces next to the China border: Cao Bang, Lang Son, Bac Kan, Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang and Ha Giang. Some roads leading to this area are small and rough. However, the scenic view of this mountainous region is spectacular.
Except Lang Son, there is not much tourism development in the Viet Bac. However, if you really want to see beauty of Vietnam that is not spoiled by tourism, you should visit Ha Giang.
Hà Giang is one of the poorest provinces of Vietnam. Infrastructure in Hà Giang has seen improvement, but remains poor - roading, schools, and health services are less developed than in many other parts of Vietnam.
