India is the birth place of Buddhism. There are many Buddhist sacred sites in India. Many countries having large number of Buddhists, built their temples to worship Buddha near these sacred sites in Bodh Gaya, Sarnath, Kushinagar. Bodh Gaya is famous for being the place of Gautama Buddha's attainment of nirvana (Enlightenment). Sarnath is the place where Gautama Buddha first taught the Dharma after his enlightenment. Kushinagar is where Gautama Buddha died.
