Columbine flowers (Aquilegia vulgaris)

Columbine is native to Asia, Europe and North America. Columbine flower is a favorite of hummingbirds and bees because the flowers contain lots of nectar. There are many pictures of bumble bees on the columbine flowers in my garden in this page.

Columbine are very easy to grow from seeds or plants. They grow well in partial shade and well drained soil. They will do well in average soils and tolerate dry soil conditions. Columbine is a parennial plantand very cold hardy.
