Flower Gallery / Bromeliad. The bromeliad family contains over 3000 described species in approximately 56 genera. The most well known bromeliad is the pineapple. Bromeliads were discovered by Columbus from South America some 500 years ago, and they have become more widely used as ornamental plants in the last 100 years.
